It was founded in 1478 as a brotherhood dedicated to Saint Roch, who people prayed to during times of plague. Inside, you can see amazing paintings by Tintoretto, one of the greatest Venetian artists. The rooms are breathtaking, especially the large upper hall with its incredible ceiling paintings. Everywhere you look there is something stunning to admire.\nI bought the combined ticket which also includes the nearby Church of San Rocco, and it was definitely worth it. The church is peaceful and beautiful, with more wonderful paintings inside. The whole visit felt special but not too crowded, almost like discovering a hidden gem in Venice. There are toilets available, which is helpful during sightseeing. If you love art and history, this place is a must see. Gifts available also in the shop inside. The main hall on the first floor is ornate and full of details to spend time admiring. They usually have mirrors that you can hold up to the ceiling to better see the details, although these weren\u2019t available the time I visited. The wood carving on the walls is amazing, especially the carved book case. They have lots of fans in the summer so it doesn\u2019t get too hot. The shop is small but decent and the toilets are good as well.
