Absolutely beautiful ambience all around the hotel, in the bar, restaurant, lobby and the rooms. Lots of beautiful details remained from years ago, that yet look taken care of. Oleksii from the concierge desk has been extremely helpful in making our stay in Basel even more memorable. Carpets everywhere \u2014 completely unhygienic and far from modern luxury. The TV was positioned so poorly that when you lie on the bed, you can\u2019t see anything. Basic functionality was missing. Five stars? Absolutely not.\n\nThe headboard was upholstered fabric, which means countless guests\u2019 heads and hair have been on the same surface. Again, not hygienic, not premium, and not acceptable at this price point.\n\nWe paid 600 CHF per night for a room that was badly planned, uncomfortable, and simply not functional. The value was nowhere near what the hotel advertises.\n\nThe restaurant with the Asian\u2011inspired menu was another major disappointment. The woman who introduced herself as the manager was abrupt, unprofessional, and displayed an attitude that has no place in hospitality. I have never experienced such behavior in any high\u2011end restaurant. Shame on the management for allowing this level of service. Ironically, the young students working there were far more polite, attentive, and service\u2011minded than the person who was supposed to lead them.\n\nOverall, this stay was far below 5\u2011star standards in both accommodation and service.
