We were upgraded to a room with a view overlooking Park Ave, which made the stay feel extra special. The staff were warm, courteous, and genuinely helpful. Service throughout was excellent.\n\nOur room was spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Once I laid down, I truly didn\u2019t want to get up.\n\nThe biggest surprise, in a good way, was breakfast. We ordered in-room dining because we didn\u2019t feel like getting dressed to go downstairs, and I wasn\u2019t expecting much. But the food was actually very good. It was a bit pricey, but the portions were generous. It took a little longer than expected to arrive and one salad was missing, but they brought it up after we called. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality.\n\nThere was also a small billing issue after checkout, which they resolved quickly. After we left, I realized I had forgotten my AirPods, and they located them within about 10 minutes of me reaching out. No. Is this the best hotel in New York? Also no.\n\nThe staff was noticeably under-trained here. The concierge sent us clear across town to a \u201cphenomenal\u201d museum that was\u2026 closed. The check-in person took us up the wrong elevator to our room. We even had staff come into our room without knocking, which hasn\u2019t ever happened before. Like anywhere.\n\nThese mistakes aren\u2019t dealbreakers but the room itself was also weaker. The windows were small. And the water pressure was so bad we wondered if the shower head was broken. It\u2019s a beautiful hotel but at the Waldorf\u2019s price point, we were imagining a little more of a polished experience \u2014 especially when there are other lux hotels in midtown to choose from.\n\nMy recommendation: pop into the Waldorf lobby and take a few photos and then head back to the Park Hyatt where you go up to your room and take a bath in front of a floor-to-ceiling window.
