One person was very good & had me very, very close to booking. But in follow up calls to fully understand the product like... house car service etc... The service over the phone became less compelling... I was borderline on booking. I think they show the cracks in the service even before booking. I called 3 times 2n'd call was fine but found out the house car might not be reliable... 3rd call was maybe by chance with a manager, because the 3rd call was a little less friendly but still professional but left me not wanting to book anymore. By asking my questions they seem to assume I care about the cost of stay... I believe. But it's more so I'm unconvinced their product is worth, any potential service issues. For example I'm not interested in a 5k stay... If the house car is not guaranteed to be available, if I have an appointment that I can give advanced notice for... That seems like an error on their part. That should be the whole point of a concierge...I'm confident they take notes on every phone call & associate it with a phone number. The over the phone service went from... Excellent to very short, disinterested in making a good impression. Over the phone I could hear subtle changes in their voice... Or blanket statements of all the great amenities on offer... but when I call to ensure these amenities before booking... All of a sudden it's we can't schedule the house car or we can make other arrangements for you as in call a car service... Huh? why if that is an amenity guests are expecting to add value to the their stay?. I'm very familiar with Aman & love Amangiri. So I know Aman NYC is probably not product worth my time by comparison but if the service is exceptional & helps me get to a Dr.s appointment. I'd go for the heck of it. But again the Cracks show that even over the phone it's inconsistent. That's when you need to have your phone service 10/10. I believe the team thinks they understand sophiscated customers & I think they believe they are a sophisticated team. But they are not. Being unsophisticated does not mean, they sound unpolished, it's actually the over measure of their own social prowess of perception. They think they can detect by phone a person, who is comfortable in these environments. If this person belongs & is this over the phone "Guest" Worth them putting forth excellent service. But it's Training time for AMAN NY...Hi, My friendly sounding voice is a gesture to put the phone team at ease...in order to answer my questions & to be approachable to them. Me, sounding relatable over the phone... is a gesture of... Relatability. To make your team feel comfortable. In reality my life hardly as relatable as I attempt to sound over the phone. Unless you stay at these hotels I suggest your staff fully understand "rich" people are not simple, easy to read or all the same... & you should treat every phone call as a SALE, you are selling me every moment or you are failing your guests. & you are losing your Aman property very real, sales. What I need from a property is to live up to high expectations, No matter how you perceive a person over the phone. I'm not calling to Impress your Aman Staff, I'm calling to see if you will live up to my time, being spent at your property. That means are you pleasant, relaxing, willing to ensure my needs will be met & exceeded. No one was awful over the phone but I could detect cracks & that's the problem.
We are staying at Aman New York and overall had a good experience, though there were definitely some highs and lows and likely would not recommend this property.

The rooms are very nice and well designed. Aman markets every room as a “suite,” though in reality they feel more like a very spacious standard New York hotel room. Compared to most NYC hotels, the rooms are absolutely larger than average, but the layout is still fairly straightforward — primarily just a bed, TV area, and a large bathroom with a soaking tub. The finishes and materials are beautiful, the room is quiet and relaxing, and the in-room fireplace creates a very cozy atmosphere.

One thing worth mentioning is that the hotel lobby starts on the 14th floor, while the actual hotel guest rooms are located below that, roughly on floors 7–12, with the private residences occupying the higher floors above the lobby. As a result, the views from many of the hotel rooms are fairly underwhelming, especially compared to what you might expect from a luxury property in Manhattan.

The gym was solid for a city hotel with plenty of equipment, though nothing particularly special.

I personally did not book a spa treatment, but we spent time in the spa area where the pool is located. The indoor pool is beautiful, though unfortunately the water temperature was noticeably cold. We asked if the heat could be turned up, but nothing changed during our stay. Also worth noting: there is no complimentary jacuzzi or cold plunge access unless you specifically book the “Banya” experience, which felt disappointing at this level of hotel. The locker rooms were fine and include both a steam room and sauna. My sister booked a 60-minute massage and said it was good, but probably not worth the price, especially since it did not come with much of an additional spa experience or extra amenities.

The biggest disappointment during our stay was the food and beverage availability. Only one bar was open the entire time although shoutout that bar and bar manager he did a great job and was very friendly and knowledgeable. The downstairs jazz bar was closed and the outdoor terrace bar was also closed, which really limited the atmosphere of the property. On top of that, the omakase sushi experience was closed on Sunday and Monday. Under normal circumstances that may be understandable, but during Memorial Day weekend it felt surprising that they wouldn’t have it operating.

Service overall was fine, but not particularly warm, proactive, or memorable in the way you would expect from an Aman property or any other top tier luxury hotel. Nothing was bad, but it lacked the attentiveness you often receive at other five-star hotels.

Overall, Aman New York is a beautiful property with excellent design and strong wellness amenities but likely my least favorite Aman hotel. If you are simply looking for a luxury stay in Manhattan and do not specifically need to be near Central Park, there are several hotels in the city — such as Faena or The Greenwich Hotel — that offer a very comparable experience at a significantly lower price point.
