Hard not to compare this to their next-door neighbors, Layla. I do love that they have a bagel called “the Layla”. Love the food and the vibes, easier to get seating on a weekday, but the weekend is doable with a little wait. The food absolutely slaps. Limited coffee/matcha selection, but coffee is good! The bread is really where it’s at, this place is all about bread. It’s a cool vibe to pick up bread to take home. Great selection here.
My friend and I dined here for Sunday brunch. We paid for our order at the counter and tipped well for full service. We wanted to compare Layla Bagels vs. Jyan Isaac. We had high hopes for Jyan Isaac and actually thought they would win out. However, we were treated poorly by staff because we brought over two bagels from Layla to try side by side with Jyan Isaac’s bagels. The bus boy didn’t want to serve us water and told us to get it ourselves when he begrudgingly brought it over, even though other tables had been brought water right in front of us. We were very cordial and did not leave trash and cleaned up after ourselves even though we literally paid almost $60 to eat here and tipped full service for a pastry and 1.5 bagels.

Their bagels are no where even near as good as Layla’s. It’s like eating a slice of toasted bread. There is no chew and it disintegrates in your mouth like cardboard or a grocery store bagel. The ambiance here is nice and I really wanted to come back and revisit, but after our treatment I am disgusted. The staff walked out and looked at us like we were criminals and cockroaches. However, the one guy at the register who took our order was exceptional and super kind.

Their croissants are really good but I highly suggest just going to Petitgrain Boulangerie instead if you want a croissant. They’re on par with one another but PB has exceptional staff.

I cannot recommend this place in good conscience to anyone. My friend and I were tasting bagels to see which one we wanted to use to host a bagel brunch party at my place, and we unequivocally chose Layla Bagels after this experience.

Edit: After reading other reviews, I realized that other patrons had the same hostile experience. I encourage everyone to avoid this restaurant entirely.
