My aunt treated me to the holiday tea, which was $125 per person (it’s our holiday tradition since I was in high school, and over the years we’ve been to many beautiful hotel teas so I'm comparing against the St. Regis, Plaza, Pierre, Baccarat, etc in my mind). This one was great, and I say that as someone who is very critical.

I do think $125 is a lot, but it also seems to be standard for tea most places now. I loved that we were seated at a four-top (though we were just 2 people). When you’re used to cramped NYC restaurants, having a large table feels like such a luxury esp since the three-tier tea trays take up so much space. At small tables I always feel like I’m about to knock something over (this is how I felt at Kings' Carriage House).

I don’t really like tea itself (the leaves), so I can’t speak to the selection (sorry). The teapot was kept warm by a candle (see my photo) and the tea was fully steeped before it came to the table. I sometimes enjoy the ritual of straining it, but this was nice too.

The area of the restaurant we were seated in was quiet and not crowded, and the waiter kindly offered to take photos of us without us even asking. Service was excellent, which for me mostly means we were not rushed. They were attentive, and whenever we needed anything it only took a moment to get someone’s attention.

Everything was delicious. The scones were good (not dry), with plenty of clotted cream (they were not stingy with anything). The desserts were excellent as well. At my last few teas I’ve found the desserts to be overly sweet, but I really enjoyed these. The tea sandwiches were great too, especially the banana bread “sandwich” with jam.

The setting wasn’t especially beautiful--it felt mostly like a nice but regular restaurant, but it was very comfortable. That actually worked perfectly for us, since we really wanted to talk and catch up, and the booth we got was very conducive to that.

They did bring around a dessert cart where you could order additional items, like a bûche de Noël or madeleines (see my photo), for an extra cost. Honestly though, there was so much food included that I can’t imagine having room for more desserts on top of everything already served.

When I judge a tea, my criteria is sort of nebulous. I'm basically trying to answer "does this feel how tea should feel?" (special occasion-y, formal in a fun way, also a little decadent) -- and this tea very much did.
I celebrated my 23rd birthday at the Majorelle on 2/25/2026 and had the most amazing experience. Not only was very single bite I had phenomenal, with clear artistry and culinary skill present in each bite, but the service and hospitality easily matched. Basil was a lovely server, constantly keeping our cups refilled and indulging in all of my questions and topics of conversation. Matt kindly showed me to the restroom and allowed me a walk through of the club room. All in all I would highly highly recommend making a trip and enjoying a lovely high tea experience at the Majorelle. Make sure to say hello to Basil for me!
